Pet Portraits

There are few things that enrich our lives more than our pets. They give us reason to smile every day and often come into our lives bearing wondrous gifts that defy description.  Each pet is unique, with it’s own idiosyncrasies and inner landscape, a landscape that remains a mystery to everyone but you.  And, there’s no better word for the ties that bind you to your pet than love.

When you commission a portrait  - The photos and text you submit are used as my inspiration and a picture begins to develop in my mind.  As I lay paint to canvass there may be several twists and turns that take place.  I’ve found that paintings develop a life of their own as I work and the path to their completion is rarely a direct route.  In the end, it is my goal to create a painting that honors the spirit of your pet.

The time required to complete a custom painting varies.  If you are giving a painting as a gift and have a particular date in mind, please let me know and I will do my best to accommodate you. Pricing Info.

How to Get Started

  1. Text  - Include a written stream of consciousness telling me about your pet – provide any information you like - don’t worry about grammar or spelling - just let it flow!
  2. Photos -  At least 3-4 photos that you feel show your pet’s character and true colors.  It’s best if your pet fills the picture. Try to send at least one photo where the frame is filled with your pets head only.  When you take your picture, try to get down to the animal’s eye level for the best angle. Take your photos outside if possible, in good light. Dramatic lighting is always encouraged. If you have to be indoors, try to use natural daylight, near a bright window. Please avoid flash as it tends to wash out the details.
  1. Protect Your Photos -  When mailing your photos, please protect them using a stiff envelope or photo-mailer. Artist will treat them well, but cannot guarantee that the post office will too. If you are sending images from a professional photographer, you must get permission from them first as these photos are copyrighted.
